Yerrrrr!
I’m Danyelle, a graphic & motion designer from Harlem, New York.
Inspired by my uber-talented, multi-hyphenate mother, my OG crafty queen, I gravitated towards art at an early age. As a black woman who came of age in New York City, I was immersed in the diverse culture and how various artists expressed themselves and their heritage through multiple mediums. Fortunately, I was blessed to have found mentorship via my high school art teachers, who introduced me to graphic design and art as a career.
With an introduction to Jean-Michel Basquiat, my fellow Haitian-American, the gift of a second-hand iPad, and a thirst for the knowledge I had yet to learn, I finished art school with a degree in graphic design. A couple of entertainment and advertising internships later (shoutouts to Showtime, Laundry Service, and Superfly), I landed a cool gig at GALE Partners, where I currently work as a motion designer. During these periods, I have learned skills such as photo editing, creating eye-catching, engaging content for social media, designing pitch decks, animating brand assets, and meeting speedy deadlines. However, just like my mother, I am a woman of many interests and have carved out this special corner of the internet to share my art at the intersection of activism and black pride.
You can find my portfolio work here and follow along with my art-making by following me on Instagram and subscribing to my Substack newsletter here. And if you love gifs like me, you can check out some of the ones I've uploaded to GIPHY.
